Built for industrial strength applications, the ET5000n is an IP-based Thin Client terminal that connects multiple server platforms including Windows, Citrix, IBM mainframe, IBM AS/400e, UNIX as well as web browser-based applications via Ethernet, fast Ethernet or dial-up.

With the optional Cisco® Aironet® 350 Series Client Adaptor, the ET5000n becomes wireless, helping customers adapt to changing workplace environments on the fly. With wireless LANs, change becomes easy.

ET5000n users can leapfrog wired infrastructures to instantly support new employees or workgroups—quickly adding workstations in a warehouse, on the manufacturing floor, in hospitals or, in the retail environment, new point of sale systems.

The ET5000n is based on the latest embedded operating system from Microsoft, CE .NET. CLI also adds unique features to improve security, manageability and usability in large multi-platform shops. 

The ET5000n supports 802.11b Wireless LANs, legacy parallel printers, stereo sound as well as serial port and USB port device connectivity.

Terminal Emulation
IBM TN5250e display support includes 3477-FG, 3477FC, 3180-2, 3179-2, 3196-A1, 5252-2, 5291-1, 5251-11 and device naming support, enhanced or non-enhanced user interface for compatibility with older applications.

IBM TN5250e printer support includes 3812-1, host print transform, hex transparent passthrough for legacy application support, full status reporting and pre-set or customizable drivers for complete flexibility.

The CLI exclusive TN5250e Open Session Reset feature closes orphaned sessions on the AS/400 upon session start that eliminates operator intervention common with all other thin clients.

IBM TN3270e display support includes 3278-2-E, 3278-3-E, 3278-4-E and 3278-5-E emulations. IBM TN3270e printer support includes “Associated Printer” support or 3287-1 emulation. Print screen redirect to a LPD is also supported.

UNIX display support includes VT100, VT220, VT320, VT420 7-Bit, VT420 8-Bit emulations. UNIX printer support includes VT220 printer passthrough and LPD server support.

CLI Enhancements to Windows CE
Auto-update—Terminal checks network and automatically updates firmware version or configuration image with no user intervention.

Security—Multiple levels of security allows flexibility or user lock-out.

“Your U.I.” —Three different user interfaces to select from. The standard CE Terminal Manager user interface, the complete lock-down Connect-Button interface or the easy to use CLI/TaskBar interface which makes task switching easy and intuitive.

Configuration Updates—Configuration updates can be pushed with using less than 240k bandwidth verses most competitors who push 5mb or more to make configuration changes.

Registry Edit—Full control when using CLI’s management tool. The registry can be edited to make changes others can’t.

Asset Management—Serial number is embedded into the firmware to allow complete flexibility for asset tracking.

Image Copy—Create a standard configuration on one ET5000n and copy it to one or thousands for instant device configuration without user intervention.
