The IBM 7299 Express Hub and Multiplexer maximize the throughput of 5250 Express Adapters and supports your legacy 5250-type devices. The 7299 Hub connects 5250-type devices to AS/400(R) and System/36(TM) hosts using shielded or unshielded category 5 cabling. The 7299 Express multiplexer sends up to 8 host ports over fiber optic cabling. When either or both of the 7299 Express Hub or Multiplexer are used with an AS/400 (such as the AS/400 Advanced 9406 Model 600) and 5250 Express Adapters, both the hub and multiplexer maximize throughput using the features of the 5250 Express Data Stream. The 5250 Express Data Stream can increase throughput to any 5250 Express capable device (such as 5250 Express adapters) by nearly four times, increasing productivity by reducing transmission related delays. The 7299 Express Hub and Multiplexer also support all models of AS/400, AS/400 Advanced 36(TM), System/36, and legacy 5250-type adapters, displays, and printers that run at the standard 1Mbps, non-optimized data rate.

Model Abstract 7299-2EX

The IBM 7299 Model 2EX is a two-port, active star hub. It supports up to 14 attached devices. Benefits also include advanced noise suppression and impedance matching to ensure 5250 device performance and reliability. A unique LED indicates when the devices attached are running at the faster 2Mbps data rate supported by the 5250 Express Adapters. You can use the LED to debug network problems and ensure that your attached devices are running the faster rate. Choose either RJ45 or RJ11 unshielded connectors.

Model Abstract 7299-2FX

The IBM 7299 Model 2FX is a two-port, active star hub. This model is equipped with shielded RJ45 connectors.

Model Abstract 7299-1PA

The IBM 7299 Model 1PA is a passive unshielded twisted pair hub that connects all types of 5250-type devices to AS/400 or System/3X hosts over short distances. Model 1PA supports one host port and seven devices. It does not require power and can be used in wiring closets where there is no power available. Choose either RJ45 or RJ11 unshielded connectors.

Model Abstract 7299-2PA

The IBM 7299 Model 2PA is a passive unshielded twisted pair hub that connects all types of 5250-type devices to AS/400 or System/3X hosts over short distances. Model 2PA supports two host ports and 14 devices. It does not require power and can be used in wiring closets where there is no power available. Choose either RJ45 or RJ11 unshielded connectors.

Model Abstract 7299-8MX

The IBM 7299 Express Multiplexer Model 8MX supports all the features of the AS/400 Workstation Controller (WSC), maximizes the throughput to 5250 Express Adapters and supports your legacy 5250-type devices over fiber optic cabling. The IBM 7299 Express Multiplexer fills out the 7299 Express Hub product line so that this one product set provides the AS/400, System/3X or 5494 Remote Controller to 5250-type device connection. So whether you are attaching a high speed 5250 Express Adapter browsing graphical Web sites using TCP/IP to an AS/400, or a legacy 3197 Color Display Station providing 'green-screen' access to a System/36, the same 7299 Express Hubs and Express Multiplexers will speed your data over UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair) or Fiber Optic cabling for you.

Model Abstract 7299-2EN

The IBM 7299 Entry Hub Model 2EN is a low-cost, traditional 1Mbps active UTP Hub. It is unique in that it can be upgraded to 2Mbps using an easy to use upgrade kit. This product will support connecting your legacy 5250-type devices to your AS/400, System/3X or 5494 Remote Controller that don't require the faster 5250 Express Data Stream speeds today, without limiting you to the slower speed in the future.
